IE8

by Administrator 5. March 2008 22:06

I am blogging from IE8.

Many useful things are broken, such as FreeTextBox which I am used to using to write this article.

Also broken, ironically enough, are the dynamic menus generated by asp.net from a sitemap data source. That alone will force me into "Emulate IE7" mode until Beta 2...

IE8?  Not sure if I am ready for that yet.  I just changed my notebook over to IE7 not to long ago.

And I am slow of the Vista adoption.  XP has been a good os for the last number of years, so I am finding it hard to jump to a new one since everything is still working under XP.

I am so busy right now, I am following the old saying "if it isn't broke don't fix it".

@Bob

The problem is that IE6 and IE7 are horribly broken. We just somehow find a way to deal with it.

@Damon

I tried out IE8 last night and failed very basic layout tests. It is an extreme disappointment after seeing the video of it pass the ACID2 test. They may have well just taped a picture of a smiley face to the monitor and said it passed ACID2. I do not believe they actually did now. I will wait for them to release a decent Beta of IE8 before I even bother again.
